Abstract
The diastereoselective synthesis of (1S,3R*,5R*,7S*) 1,8-dioxa 1-ethy l 3,5,7-trimethyl bicylo [3,2,1] octane 1d has been achieved using as key-step the regioselective Baeyer-Villiger reaction of 2.6-disubstitu ted cyclohexanone. It confirms the identification of a new male pherom one emitted by the banana weevil, Cosmopolites sordidus. The trivial n ame sordidin is proposed.
