The lipophilic metalloporphyrin derivatives containing electron donati
ng or withdrawing groups are used as anion carriers with selectivity c
haracteristics deviated from classical Hofmeister series. The electron
effect of the carrier on the selectivity characteristics has been int
erpreted in terms of the selective coordination action along the axial
position of metalloporphyrins. An metalloporphyrin derivative with el
ectron-donating groups is preferred for the preparation of this type o
f anion-sensitive membrane electrodes.
