J. Knodlseder et al., SEARCH FOR 1.809 MEV EMISSION OF AL-26 FROM NEARBY SUPERNOVA-REMNANTSUSING COMPTEL, Astronomy & Astrophysics. Supplement series, 120(4), 1996, pp. 339-342
We report the negative results of our searches in COMPTEL data for 1.8
09 MeV gamma-ray line emission from four localized regions which conta
in nearby supernova remnants (SNRs). The upper flux limits (2 sigma) a
re found to be in the range of 1.4 10(-5) to 2.4 10(-5) photons s(-1)
cm(-2). These upper limits do not severely constrain the theoretical A
l-26 yields from individual core collapse supernovae due to large unce
rtainties in the SNR distances and the nature of the progenitor stars.
