The design, construction and operation of the University of Durham Mar
k 6 ground-based gamma-ray telescope is described. The telescope has b
een designed to have a high sensitivity to gamma-rays in the less than
or similar to 100 GeV region and to achieve good discrimination betwe
en gamma-ray and hadron initiated showers at energies of greater than
or similar to 300 GeV. The telescope was constructed in mid-1994 and a
preliminary description of its operation is presented.
