A 49-year-old study of P technique applied to a psychotherapy patient
with a recurrent physical symptom is dusted off and re-presented, toge
ther with examples of other studies with similar methods ods conducted
since then. The specific aims were to understand the main dimensions
of psychotherapeutic change as well as the context for the recurrent s
ymptom. The general aims were to illustrate the contributions from app
lying the P technique to psychotherapy research, to psychosomatic medi
cine, and to personality research.
