Abstract
The solubility, processability, thermal behavior, and even the hydroph ilicity of thermally stable aromatic polyamides can be influenced prof oundly and relatively easily and inexpensively, by the introduction of bulky pendant groups, Here, the influence of various pendant groups a nchored in the 5-position of the isophthaloyl moiety of polyisophthalo mides is assessed.
