The porosity, the integrity of the framemork and any envisaged applica
tions of sulfide-based nanoporous layered materials produced using org
anic templates, depend upon the stability of the materials with respec
t to the thermally induced template removal process. Here, the thermoc
hemical properties of two such materials are examined using a variety
of techniques and conclusions drawn concerning the thermal stability r
ange and the reconstruction processes which take place.
