Abstract
Recent field measurements of BrO radical concentrations and estimates of ClO radical concentrations from field measurements of hydrocarbons have been used to calculate the ozone depletion rate in the Arctic bou ndary layer which occurs during springtime. Considering the ozone cycl es involving the ClO/BrO reaction and the BrO self-reaction the calcul ated ozone depletion rates, as high as 6 ppb/day, are comparable to th e observations.
