Abstract
Organic agriculture is increasingly of interest. The first organic far m in the Netherlands was established 70 years ago. Since then, the pra ctice of this type of agriculture has grown. Although still relatively small scale, organic farming has a potential that is recognized in pr actice, in agricultural policies, and by the public. This paper presen ts facts and characteristics of organic animal husbandry in the Nether lands, with emphasis on dairy husbandry.
