Computer simulation is presented of the thermal behavior of glass used
for windows in buildings subjected to the typical exposure of an acci
dental fire. Radiation data are processed with the P1 method, transfer
being taken as unidimensional. A detailed representation is given of
the boundaries of the mediums, radiative as well as conductive. The ai
m of this study is to bring out not only the influence of the thicknes
s of the glass, but also its thermo-optic characterization, using a sp
ectrum of non-gray mediums and various reflective properties of the su
rfaces. A comparison with experimental results shows a good agreement
with results predicted by the authors' computer software. Copyright (C
