Abstract
The complexation equilibria of thorium (IV) with naphthazarin (5,8-dih ydroxy-1,4-naphthaquinone, NAZA) have been studied spectrophotometrica lly in 40% (v/v) ethanol-water and at an ionic strength of 0.1M NaClO4 , in the pH range (0.7-8.0). A simple, rapid, selective and sensitive method for spectrophotometric determination of trace amounts of thoriu m (IV) has also been proposed. The effect of diverse ions have been st udied.
