Several CoAPO-type materials were obtained by hydrothermal crystalliza
tion of gels containing triethylamine as template and variable amounts
of cobalt. The nature and crystal morphology of the several crystalli
ne phases were found to depend on the cobalt content of the gel and th
e crystallization time. AFl and CHA topologies and unidentified phases
were obtained. Microprobe analysis coupled with SEM showed a heteroge
neous distribution of cobalt in the crystallites corresponding to the
different crystalline phases. The cobalt content in AFl was found to b
e higher than previously reported in the literature; its incorporation
probably took place in an early stage of the crystallization process.
