Processing articles such as plastics parts for automobiles may give ri
se to mixtures of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and small amou
nts of polyamide (PA 6). These mixtures only allow optimum reprocessin
g if the infuence of this PA contamination on the properties of the re
cyclate is known. The investigations described in this contribution ai
med at elucidating the correlations between the respective phase morph
ology and the resulting mechanical properties, and they attempted to a
nswer the question of how far a relatively low polyamide content may a
ffect the properties of ABS.
