Abstract
A new neutron-deficient isotope Am-235 was synthesized in the reaction of Pu-238(p,4n)Am-235 by using 35 MeV proton bombarding Pu-238 target , The products were transported by the He-jet system, The Am was separ ated from the reaction products using the radiochemistry method, The g amma-ray of Pu-235 and X-ray of Np following the EC decay of Am-235 we re observed, Based on the growth-decay curve of X-ray of Np and the X- gamma coincidence measurements, the synthesis of Am-235 was confirmed for the first time, The measured half-life of Am-235 is 15+/-15 min.
