G. Flodberg et J. Roeraade, A DEVICE FOR HIGH-PRESSURE THIN-LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY, JPC. Journal of planar chromatography, modern TLC, 8(1), 1995, pp. 10-13
This work describes the construction of an apparatus suitable for high
pressure thin layer chromatography. The functioning of the device is
based on the principle of over pressured layer chromatography (OPLC).
The apparatus consists of flat, ground stainless steel blocks, contain
ing a water cushion system, mounted in a hydraulic press. Mylar film o
r stainless steel foil was employed as the water cushion membrane. Whe
n stainless steel foil was used, leak-tightness up to 500 bar was obta
ined. The performance of the apparatus is demonstrated by chromatograp
hy on a 20 cm thin layer plate coated with 3 mu m spherical particles.
A final pressure drop of 140 bar was recorded.
