The correlation between conductivity and ESR characteristics is invest
igated in the case of aged polypyrrole samples. Polypyrrole powder was
obtained by chemical oxidation at 3 degrees C with 1-naphthalen sulfo
nic acid as doping species and then heated to 140 degrees C under eith
er air or argon to accelerate the ageing process. Quantitative measure
ments have been carried out as a function of heating time. ESR data ar
e discussed and compared to those of conductivity measurements obtaine
d in the same conditions.
