oly(p-phenylenevinylene-co-2,5-thienylenevinylene) [poly(PV-co-TV)] wa
s prepared by the reaction of p-bis(methylenedimethylsulfoniumchloride
) phenylene(BMSP) and 2,5-bis(methylenedimethylsulfoniumchloride) thio
phene(BMST) by the modified sulfonium polyelectrolyte precursor route.
The synthesized precursor copolymer and final conjugated copolymer we
re characterized by IR, UV, GPC and EA. The electrical conductivities
of poly(PV-co-TV) ranged from 10(-11) to 10(-9) Scm(-1), depending on
the composition of monomer in copolymer. The absorption maximum of pol
y(PV-co-TV) appeared at 440nm.
