Abstract
The classical concepts of strictly one-dimensional polarons and bipola rons are insufficient to explain the actual electronic properties of d isordered conducting polymers even when a small interchain transfer in tegral tl is also considered. In fact the interaction between the carr iers and the doping counter-ions fosters the creation of interchain po larons and bipolarons which explain most of the spin and charge proper ties of the disordered conducting polymers.
