L. Zuppiroli et al., ROLE OF THE DOPANT COUNTERIONS IN THE TRANSPORT AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF DISORDERED CONDUCTING POLYMERS, Synthetic metals, 69(1-3), 1995, pp. 621-624
The classical concepts of strictly one-dimensional polarons and bipola
rons are insufficient to explain the actual electronic properties of d
isordered conducting polymers even when a small interchain transfer in
tegral tl is also considered. In fact the interaction between the carr
iers and the doping counter-ions fosters the creation of interchain po
larons and bipolarons which explain most of the spin and charge proper
ties of the disordered conducting polymers.
