Abstract
The propagation of polychromatic spatially coherent light through an o ptical system, developed for achromatizing Fresnel diffraction pattern s, is discussed using the Wigner distribution function. This approach is applied for obtaining achromatic self-images. The residual chromati c aberration is analysed, and some experimental results are shown.
