Out-of-class experiences associated with learning and personal develop
ment were identified from interviews with college seniors. Respondents
attributed a wide range of desirable outcomes (for example, critical
thinking, relational and organizational skills) to life outside the cl
assroom. Peer interactions and leadership responsibilities were among
the most frequently mentioned antecedents of benefits.
