Abstract
Thanks to their self-emission properties and the possibility of manufa cturing large-area devices; electroluminescent chromophores and polyme rs are paving the way toward the introduction of organic light-emittin g diodes (OLEDs) and displays. OLEDs have the potential to compete aga inst today's established LCD technology, while opening up opportunitie s for a range of revolutionary applications.
