In this paper, we provide a general analytical framework for the compu
tation of the interference statistics in mobile radio cellular systems
. This approach, which takes into account log-normal shadowing, distan
ce path loss, best cell site selection and power control based on sign
al strength, applies to various cellular environments, including narro
wband systems (e.g., IS-54 and group special mobiles GSM) and code-div
ision multiple-access (CDMA) systems. Some examples of application are
provided.
