The movement patterns and home range of elephants in the Waza National
Park are discussed. Home range size varied from 785 to 2 534 km2. One
elephant moved up to 100 km away from Waza N.P., towards Kalamaloue N
ational Park. The second elephant stayed in Waza N.P. throughout the s
tudy period. This study supports the hypothesis that the Waza elephant
population is divided into at least two sub-populations or clans: the
resident sub-population and the northern sub-population which migrate
s between Kalamaloue and Waza N.P.
