Abstract
The extraction of water by I-octanol was calculated as a function of a queous electrolyte concentration and initial O/A volume ratio for seri es of representative salts, including LiCl, NaCl, KCl, NaNO3, NaClO4, MgCl2, and CaCl2, These results were then used to calculate the result ant phase-volume changes and aqueous-electrolyte-concentration changes . Such corrections are necessitated for precise extraction measurement s employing 1-octanol as a diluent, especially as the O/A phase ratio exceeds unity.
