Abstract
For both YMn2 and GdMn2 the Mn-Mn interatomic distance is close to a c ritical distance d(c), below which the Mn moment becomes unstable. Thu s magnetic order due to the d-d interaction is easily suppressed by hy drostatic pressure, giving way to enhanced spin fluctuations and furth ermore ordering of RKKY-type in the case of GdMn2.
