Magnetic properties of Y1-xGdxCo2B2C series of compounds were studied.
Two magnetically ordered phases were observed for 0.7 less than or eq
ual to x less than or equal to 1. Change of the magnetic ordering temp
eratures T-1 and T-2 with the Gd concentration is argued to be related
to the dilution of magnetic Gd by nonmagnetic Y and to the reduction
of the distance between (Y1-xGdx)C planes. However, significant contri
bution to the changes in T-1 between pure GdNi2H2C and GdCo2B2C sample
s is suggested to be due to the different 3d band filling in these com
pounds.
