Tj. Donohue, THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY IN A NEW TRANSPORTATION ERA - A TQ INTERVIEW WITH ATAS DONOHUE,THOMAS,J, Transportation quarterly, 49(1), 1995, pp. 73-79
No longer does the trucking industry have only to fulfill its multi-fa
ceted role as an established essential element of the nation's highly
competitive socio-economic structure. Trucking must now also demonstra
te just how much additional mettle it has in successfully dealing with
the kaleidoscopic demands of today's fast emerging global economy. He
lping to shed light on how the trucking industry is going to rise to t
his herculean task is Thomas J. Donohue, President and Chief Executive
Officer of the American Trucking Associations for the past ten years.
Tom points the way on how the next ten years should be addressed and,
in typical fashion, zeros in on the issues involved in no nonsense fa
shion. The U.S. Congress, as is often the case, is the starting point
of Tom's broad action plan. We are indebted to him for his gracious ac
ceptance of our invitation to the Q&A session.
