Abstract
The Wiener spectrum is an important tool used to assess the noise powe r of an image in the spatial frequency domain, and therefore a potenti ally useful index in the dose optimisation of X ray imaging systems: M any workers have reported on the measurement of Wiener spectra in the literature, however, there is little comparative work done on the rela tive performance of different imaging modalities using Wiener spectra. The performance of digital imaging systems using Wiener spectra is ev aluated and measured spectra from different modalities compared, inclu ding ultrasound, digital subtraction angiography (DSA, vascular), a di gital cardiac imaging system and nuclear medicine.
