Abstract
delta-C-13 values, Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, ribulose-1,5-bisph osphate carboxylase and glycolate oxidase activities were determined i n Vetiveria zizanioides Stapf. (Vetiver) a graminaceous plant native t o tropical and subtropical areas. The results obtained allowed us to s tate that V. zizanioides possessed a C4 photosynthetic mechanism, whic h was retained at high levels even when the plant was cultivated in hu mid-temperate climates.
