Abstract
Column-, and thin-layer chromatography revealed the presence of the fo llowing carotenoids in the cells of the species Trentepohlia gobii Mey er from cobbles in the river Urmi in the Badzhal mountains of Khabarov sk Territory in the Far East: beta, beta-carotene, beta, epsilon-carot ene, beta, beta-carotene-2-ol, beta, beta-carotene-2-ol, beta, beta-ca rotene-2,2'-diol, 5,6-epoxy-5,6-dihydro-beta, beta-carotene-2-ol, 5,6- epoxy-5,6-dihydro-beta, epsilon-carotene-2-ol and 5,6,5',6'-diepoxy-5, 6,5',6'-tetrahydro-beta, beta-carotene-2,2'-diol.
