It presents as a swelling in the submandib ular region of the neck, often without any abnormality in the oral cav ity. Excision of the sublingual gland without neck dissection usually is curative. We report a 16-year-old patient with a plunging ranula an d review the aetiology, diagnosis, and management of this infrequent c ondition, which often is misdiagnosed.
