Abstract
The minisatellite sequences 33.6, 33.15, M13 and R18.1 were used as pr obes for yeast DNA fingerprinting. Probe R18.1, derived from a cattle genomic bank, showed strong hybridization, producing complex and infor mative DNA fingerprinting profiles both in Saccharomyces cerevisiae an d Kluyveromyces marxianus. High polymorphism was observed in intra and interespecific comparisons, allowing the identification of all the st rains, even those closely related.
