Osterioarticular infections due to Kingella kingae are being increasin
gly diagnosed in children. Kingella kingae is a Gram-negative aerobe c
occobacillus of the Nesseriaceae family and an upper respiratory tract
saprophyte. A pediatric case of sacroiliitis due to Kingella kingae i
s reported herein. The organism was recovered by culture of the sacroi
liac aspirate on a special medium (Bactec). Identification of Kingella
kingae requires a CO2-enriched atmosphere. Antimicrobials, especially
the latest beta-lactams, are extremely effective. Some osteoarticular
infections due to undected organisms may be caused by Kingella kingae
