Abstract
Silver(I) catalyzed oxidation of aspartic acid by cerium(IV) was studi ed in acid perchlorate medium. The stoichiometry of the reaction is re presented by the eq. (i) [GRAPHICS] Dimeric cerium(IV) species has bee n indicated and employed in calculations of monomeric cerium(IV) speci es concentrations. The reaction is second-order and uncatalyzed reacti on also simultaneously occurs along with the silver(I) catalyzed react ion conforming to the rate law (ii) [GRAPHICS] where k is an observed second-order rate constant.
