M. Zijlema et al., INVARIANT DISCRETIZATION OF THE KAPPA-EPSILON MODEL IN GENERAL COORDINATES FOR PREDICTION OF TURBULENT-FLOW IN COMPLICATED GEOMETRIES, Computers & fluids, 24(3), 1995, pp. 209-225
An invariant formulation and finite volume discretization of the stand
ard k-epsilon turbulence model in general curvilinear co-ordinates is
presented. The k-epsilon model is implemented together with the incomp
ressible Navier-Stokes equations on staggered grids with contravariant
flux components as unknowns. A proof that k and epsilon are non-negat
ive is given. Positive schemes in the implementation of the k-epsilon
model are evaluated. Discretization of boundary conditions is consider
ed. The numerical method is applied to a turbulent flow across a stagg
ered tube bank.
