Abstract
In this paper, using TiH2, BN and B4C as raw materials, reactive hot-p ressing method is proposed to produce TiB2-TiC0.5N0.5 ceramic composit e. In the produced TiB2-TiC0.5N0.5 composite, very fine (in general, 1 0 nm) TiC0.5N0.5 precipitates are found dispersed in TIB2 grains by us ing SEM and TEM. The mechanism of the formation of this kind of struct ure and how to control it by processing design and its influence on th e properties of the material are worth further study.
