Abstract
This paper presents a new approach based on a simulated evolution (SE) method to design of matched filters for signal pre-processing in IR d etecting systems. The matched filter possesses a recursive digital for m and matches with the bell-shaped pulse signal of IR detectors. The S E method can be used to search for optimal filter parameters such that the magnitude characteristic of the filter matches with the desired p recisely. Simulation results are presented to show the advantages of t his new design methodology and the potential of its applications to de sign of non-standard shape filters.
