Ec. Viljoen et J. Duplessis, AUGER LEED LINEAR HEATING STUDY OF SN AND S BULK-TO-SURFACE DIFFUSIONIN A CU(111)(SN,S) SINGLE-CRYSTAL, Surface and interface analysis, 23(2), 1995, pp. 110-114
The novel technique of linearly heating a sample to obtain both the pr
e-exponential factor D-0 and the activation energy E from a single run
is applied to the Cu(111)(Sn,S) system. Using Auger electron spectros
copy the surface enrichment is measured as a function of time (tempera
ture) and fitted with an integral expression containing the fit parame
ters D-0 and E. The fit values at all heating rates agree excellently
with published, our own experimental and conventional t(1/2) values af
ter temperature corrections.
