A packet radio network employing FFH-CDMA as multiple access technique
is studied. We focus on the acquisition process and we examine the ef
fect of multiple-access interference. The relationship between the max
imum number of tolerable interfering transmissions and the number of f
requencies used in frequency hopping is investigated. The bounds to th
e probability of acquisition as well as approximations to them are use
d. The effects of other system parameters, such as the length of the s
ignal's preamble, the number of chips of the code per bit and the numb
er of correlators are also studied.
