Abstract
A method for the preparation of uncontaminated quaternary ammonium hyd roxides is described. It is particularly useful for short-chain compou nds R(4)N(+)OH(-) where R is a C1 to C4 unit and reflects the differen t solubility of long chain R(4)N(+)X(-) and short chain R(4)N(+)OH.
