Abstract
The relationship between Strehl ratio (S), the parameter most often us ed by those in the adaptive optics field, and visibility (V), the para meter of most interest to those working in interferometry, is investig ated. It is found that if the atmospheric turbulence is assumed to be Kolmogorov, V similar or equal to S for high Strehl ratios. At low Str ehl ratios, both simulations and an analytical formulation show that t he Strehl ratio underestimates the visibility.
