Abstract
This is a report of two cases of peripheral neuropathy associated with ulcerative colitis (UC). Patient 1 developed asymmetric neuropathy tw o weeks after the onset of UC. Subsequent neurological improvement par alleled the improvement in the active UC as revealed by colonoscopy. P atient 2 exhibited sensory ataxic neuropathy with deposits of IgG and lambda chain in the sural nerve. Both patients showed axonal neuropath y, and corticosteroid therapy improved the neurological symptoms. Thes e types of neuropathy have not previously been reported in association with UC.
