HEPATITIS-A-RISK BY CONTACT WITH PRIMATES

Observations made in the Berlin Zoological Garden led in agreement wit h a literature survey to the conclusion that there is a potential infe ction risk for nonimmune persons by HAV-excreting primates. Since no a nimal had been imported before the HAV-infection occured, the infectio n path human-monkey-human-monkey seems likely. The active vaccination of non-immune animal keepers and veterinarians is recommended.
