Abstract
The effects of Pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PAC AP) on in vivo LH-and in vitro GnRH release were studied using hypotha lamus-lesioned rats and hypothalamic fragments, respectively. Since Gn RH secretion is not affected by PACAP but the peptide stimulates LH se cretion in hypothalamus-lesioned rats, we suggest that the physiologic al site of action of PACAP are the gonadotropes.
