Abstract
Preliminary results of observations of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 from Ran gapur Observatory during 21-22 January 1994 are presented, Astrometric positions of resolved fragments were estimated using multiple triangu lations of stars in HST Guide star catalogue, Tails from individual fr agments could be resolved up to about 10 arcsec. An ambient dusty regi on extending to about 17-20 arcsec on the anti-sun direction of the co metary train is evident on all the frames.
