Measurements of the transport properties of Bi2(Te1-xSex)3 single crys
tal solid solutions with x = 0.025 and x = 0.05 are described as a fun
ction of deviations from stoichiometry. From measurements of the elect
rical and thermal conductivities, and the Seebeck coefficient at room
temperature, a maximum in the figure of merit Z = 2.9 x 10(3) K-1 was
determined for the solid solution containing 2.5% Bi2Se3. Analysis of
the results allows us to present the main features of the band structu
re and the transport properties of these solid solutions.
