P. Vandael et al., CAPILLARY WHOLE-BLOOD SELENIUM DETERMINATION IN ASSESSING SELENIUM STATUS OF CHILDREN, Journal of trace elements and electrolytes in health and disease, 8(3-4), 1994, pp. 225-228
Selenium levels in venous and capillary whole blood of children were a
ssessed by direct graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. Sel
enium data obtained for both blood samples did not differ statisticall
y (p > 0.05). Capillary blood may therefore be used as an alternative
to venous blood, which is more difficult to obtain from children. Whol
e-blood selenium data for children in the Antwerp region (Belgium) wer
e compared with literature data for children from other countries.
