Nucleotide sequences of exon-4 or -5 encoding one region of visual pig
ments in Plecoglossus altivelis were determined with the amplified fra
gments. One nuclotide was substituted in the exon-4 of rhodopsin pigme
nt gene between the amphidromous and landlocked form, and one codon (A
TC) in exon-4 of amphidromous form was changed to GTC in that of landl
ocked form. There was no difference in the exon-5 of the sequence in t
he red-sensitive pigment gene between the two forms.
