Abstract
Since the discovery of antiferromagnetic type interlayer coupling in 1 986 and of 'Giant Magnetoresistance' in 1988, numerous systems have be en investigated. Here we give a critical review of the research on the se phenomena and illustrate the development with some results from our groups in Orsay and Juelich.
