Abstract
Melt-spun Fe80-xHoxB20 (x less than or equal to 16 at%) ribbons were s tudied by Mossbauer spectrometry in the temperature range 4-300 K. The average isomer shift and hyperfine field decrease linearly with rare- earth concentration. In Fe64Ho16B20, at 4.2 K, under an applied field of 1 T, a rotation of iron spins towards the field direction is observ ed, suggesting a higher exchange/anisotropy ratio than in an Er-based alloy, where no rotation was observed up to 8 T.
